Like so many of us the recent pandemic changed some of my habits,  including a warming to technology.  Hesitant at first I slowly understood that for some people in certain circumstances learning a language remotely actually has huge advantages.  I am now a big fan because I have seen how effective it is for several reasons:

1. Increased concentration and focus for the learner.
2. Raised awareness of the need for good pronunciation.
3. Shorter lessons and more often faster progress.
4. Less likely to forget what you learnt last lesson.
5. You can be anywhere.*

When you are in a physical group setting you use different cues to understand. Maybe you rely on your partner who may speak and understand at a higher level ( or maybe they are just more confident!). Maybe your French friends will translate for you , and often you are surrounded by visual and contextual clues which re-assure you. 

 Take those away and work with me via a screen and it is a new and exciting experience. You have to listen closely ( I recommend a decent head-set, it makes a world of difference, you don’t have to shout or lean in towards the image, you just speak naturally) and your awareness of what you are saying is heightened. The optimum length of lesson is half an hour twice a week and most of my students have a favourite time when they know they are at their best. Homework is sent ahead of the lessons and corrected the next time which means you always have something to do. Progress is usually fast due to the bi-weekly nature of learning.  If you are interested but not sure this method suits you then why not have a trial lesson ?   I do not offer group lessons in this medium, but one to one or couples work well.

*I know I said you can be anywhere but once I did draw the line when a lady who had phone lessons called me bang on time as always but  seemed distracted. I could hear vehicles and asked where she was. ‘Don’t worry Kate, I am in Agen looking for a parking space…’   When she stopped we continued. Apparently the Parking Gravier in Agen is very agréable!
