Why work with me?

As a non-native French speaker educated through the British system I understand how you work.

Many times pupils have said that what marks me out is that I ‘get’ why things are tricky, I don’t overcorrect and insist on perfection resulting in a chronic loss in self-confidence, and importantly I love what I do.  (I must as I have been involved in education since 1982 as a teacher or trainer !) Let’s be clear here, I am not French, but I do have a neutral accent which is easy to understand. Once you get to C1 level I propose that you move onto a native speaker, as language learning is a journey, the more you speak the more you want to know.

This doesn’t mean lessons are vague and unstructured. Content is designed for your needs and involves as much participation by you as possible. Grammar points are explained and practised and re-visited as often as you need to master them.  Conversation is open as a warm up when we exchange our news, and then structured to explore specific topics. During the year we talk about topical things and follow the events of the seasons and dig deep into French culture using articles and audio-visual documents.

Past Experiences

My teaching journey started in UK schools before moving to France in 1992 . Since then I have worked at the Ecole Des Mines, Albi, many lycées and collèges as well as in-house training for companies like L’Occitane and the EDF. Just before the pandemic I ran face-to-face courses as well as online teaching mainly for adults. I have just completed three years of full-time teaching in the Lycée Joseph Savane and at Campus Lasalle St Christophe and have decided to return to my favourite part of the profession, working with individuals who really want to improve their linguistic skills.
